On this occasion both sides acknowledged that freedom of association and assembly and an enabling civic space are crucial components of any democracy. The&nbsp;two sides&nbsp;committed to protect human rights defenders from violence and harassment, ensure the&nbsp;freedom for civil society.&nbsp;Both sides expressed concern at the reported cases of violations and abuses of human rights and international humanitarian&nbsp;laws, and highlighted the need to ensure that perpetrators are held to account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mubashir Bhutta Advocate highlighted the importance of the Joint Program on Human Rights which supports the commitments in the area\u2019s human rights violations, civic space, national reporting mechanism. They reaffirmed its continued support and the strengthening the collaboration. The co-chairs recognized the strong collaboration between the organizations in peacebuilding in and in fostering human rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The organizations underscored its priorities&nbsp;to boost the efficiency of the criminal justice system.
